Synopsis
Max tries to borrow fifty dollars from his boss, Sargon, claiming he can turn it into half a million. Sargon refuses, but a number of crooks overhear his claim and give him $12.50 apiece. Max goes to Piker, the rare map dealer and buys a treasure map. This is the eighth such phony map Piker has sold this day. The crooks turn on themselves, each trying to get the map for themselves. When Sargon sees the map he confirms his suspicions that it is a scam.

A phonograph record of Cuff talking to a crony is played and his landlady swears to the police that Cuff was at home during the time of a robbery. He takes to his bed with a "sickness alibi". Mr. Terrific discovers his book of alibis and gives both it and Davis himself over to the police.
