Margret Sanger grows up in Corning, New York, seeing her mother suffer from the effects of 18 pregnancies. She becomes a nurse and begins to campaign for contraception (still illegal in many venues) and free love. Abrasive and self-centered, she alienates many of her allies and family members, but continues in her struggle.
