When the troll inadvertently vectors a meteor into the town, Mirka just manages to get word to the witch, who transforms the meteor into the first thing she can think of -- a double of Mirka. Soon named Metty, the double insists on sharing Mirka's life, and turns out to be better at it than Mirka is. They agree to a competition on who can be the best Mirka; judges Rochel and Zindel rule that even though Metty did better in the contests, Mirka is best at being Mirka. Metty returns to space, abandoning Mirka on the way. Mirka gets home with help from the moon.
