There is a suggestion that Antiope's Amazons split from Hippolyte's tribe on Paradise Island, not back in Greece, as was detailed in Wonder Woman (DC, 1987 series) #1.

As a Zero Hour issue, Wonder Woman's origin in this issue has discrepancies from Wonder Woman (DC, 1987 series) #1. Here, it is Steve Trevor crashing on Themyscira which instigates the contest, whereas in WW #1, Diana already won the contest when he arrives. Additionally, Diana wears the "Mask of Proteus" to disguise her identity during the contest.
Mala notes that Diana's "goddess-given powers did not manifest on Themyscira."

Mala scores higher in the javelin throw than Diana.

- Synopsis

- Reprints
Although Artemis was granted two gauntlets of Atlas in Wonder Woman (DC, 1987 series) #93, she wears only one this issue, and from now on. Although it increases the wearer's strength by ten, Artemis winces when she punches the Chauvinist using the arm not wearing the gauntlet.
Julianna Sazia explains she had chains welded to Diana's bracelets by men, assuring her accomplices this will sap her strength-- which of course, post-Crisis, is no longer true, which Diana demonstrates.
