Synopsis
Moira tests Jean's Phoenix powers. Jean begins having hallucinations thanks to Mastermind. Moira discovers that Proteus has escaped. Beast finds out the X-Men are alive and lets them know that Moira needs their help on Muir Isle.

This issue is the first to reveal Magneto as the father of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. Popeye and the Phantom Stranger appear in the background of page 16, panel 5, added by inker Terry Austin. A few characters from the Claremont/Byrne/Austin Starlord book appear in panel 6. These notes added 2005 by Steven Tice.
