Indexer Notes

GOOD BIT questioning the meta existence of Tom and, by extension, Jerry and Tuffy:

The newspaper reads: "All cats must have licenses today. Cat owners must purchase tags or their pets will be picked up. Fee $5.00. License men will search all homes for cats today." That "home-searching thing" sounds like a bad case of municipal overreach, but it leads to the following meta-like exchange:

TOM: "Where'll I get FIVE BUCKS?"
JERRY: "And where will you get an OWNER? Heh, heh!"

TOM: "That's RIGHT! I don't even BELONG to anyone!"
TUFFY: "Who'd HAVE you?"
