- Cleo's mother recommends that she never marry a man like her father because she thinks it is not natural for a woman to rule the roost like she has. However, her boyfriend Jim is just like her father and always asks her where she wants to go. At a dance, she meets Paul who takes command of her and Jim lets her go. Cleo enjoys Paul's commanding presence, but when she sees the way he treats her parents when they talk about their wedding arrangements, she realizes it would never work and she hopes Jim will take her back.

But Janet is Mike's sister and she warns her that Mike is as clever as a cartload of monkeys and will twist her around his little finger. Mike admits to Ruth that he pretended to sleep past his station to get to know her.

- A funicular railway car has come to a halt high in the mid-air somewhere in the Swiss mountains with four passengers, who think back over their past lives. She met a man who stirred something in her and he asked her to join him on the funicular railway. When he didn't show, she went alone. - Shy George worked at the estate agent's next door and Helen took him tea every day. When George starts buying flowers for a girlfriend, Helen asks him about her and he admits he hasn't met her. George tells her he fell in love with a girl in a photograph. Helen suggests he needs to get her out of his system by finding another girl. George asks Helen out and she agrees to go out "just a couple of times", but they eventually fall in love. Then Helen discovers the photograph was a picture of a house and George made it all up just to get friendly with her.
