Synopsis
Jill takes a scientific approach to love by researching books, poems, surveys and magazines. When she's ready to experiment, she tells Ben that he is going to take her out on a date. Dumbfounded, Ben agrees, but the date was not a success. In the interest of science, she wants to try again, but Ben refuses. However, when Jill sees Ben with another girl she behaves in a most unscientific manner.

Synopsis
Polly almost forgets her annual visit to Aunt Maude in the country and has to dash off to meet the train. On the train, she writes a letter to Jim explaining why she had to break their date but that she would be back on Monday to explain "that business about Ken Stephens". However, getting off the train she falls from the platform and breaks her leg. She wakes up in her aunt's cottage where a nice man on the train had taken her after the fall.

Synopsis
Jean fell in love with Harry and felt protected due to his forceful nature. But when he undercuts his friends in order to buy a house for Jean and himself to live in, she sees that other people's feelings don't mean anything to him. She tells him she won't marry him and he thinks she is weak, but she feels sorry for him because she realizes winning doesn't always bring happiness.

Synopsis
Cleo helps her father in his small boatbuilding yard, dreaming of someone more romantic than Jeff, who is in love with her. While painting the hull of a rich customer's yacht, she talks to a young man who passes by, commenting on the yacht's wealthy owner, not realizing she is talking to the owner's son. When she realizes the truth, she becomes angry. Paul apologizes and asks her to a dance. When Jeff tells her she will never see her prince charming again, she becomes mad at Jeff and calls Paul to accept his invitation.
