- Long train rides tend to provoke conversation. So, on their way from London to Paris, Mercury tells John of the being she met in the wormhole of The Rot: Adnan the Djinn...brother of Marid. Back in London at the Tate Club, Marid and Clarice have called a meeting of the most noteworthy characters of the underworld to inform them of their plan: to save the human race from themselves.
