Usagi and Gen meet the disgraced Lady Asano, who is determined to obtain vengeance on her late husband's enemies. Learning Gen is the son of her husband's general she requests his aid but Gen refuses.

Synopsis
Gen tells Usagi how he gave up his father's vendetta and became a bounty hunter. Usagi tries to help Lady Asano against her foe Oda which finally makes Gen take action to rescue his friend.
Lady Asano finally has her revenge on Oda but dies as a result. In her final moments she mistakes Gen for his father, deeply affecting Gen. When Gen discovers Oda was carrying his father's swords - meaning he must have killed Gen's father - Gen weeps.
Usagi again encounters Kitsune. Gen is immediately smitten by her so Usagi delays informing him that she's a thief. Gen plays the part of a gallant hero for Kitsune - only to be robbed by her in the end.
Usagi and Gen find themselves in the village where Zato-Ino has retired. Discovering the blind swordspig is ill and dying, Gen becomes determined to save his former enemy's life.
