Other than the two page "shock" conclusion, this story is a pretty straightforward fleshing out of the flashback tale presented in Uncanny X-Men #268 without many new details presented; The Black Widow's secret identity is spelled exactly as it appears in both the new and the original story; All character appearances other than Wolverine himself are in flashback.

- Synopsis
- In World War II, Wolvie has been ordered to let Strucker go and kill Cap and Bucky. He achieves the former but looks like a traitor for doing so and, in retaliation, Cap gives Logan, what he calls, one of his "all time greatest beatings." Wolvie finishes reminiscing about his memories of Cap and says a final goodbye to his fallen friend. Meanwhile, somebody hires Deadpool to kill Wolverine.

- Synopsis
- Professor X and Wolverine assault the house where Shaw and Claudine have sequestered Daken. While Wolvie battles Shaw, Claudine gets Professor X to trigger the psychic traps in Daken's mind, knocking him out, but finds that the memories she attempted to overlay on Daken did not take. In fact, his real memories are restored and he cuts down Claudine before moving in to kill Xavier.
