- Synopsis
- Finishing a game of checkers, Straus and Kilpatrick nearly miss a required briefing of all tank commanders by the C.O., who informs them that a patrol sent down the Kumhwa Road had been ambushed and badly hit, and they needed to be rescued. When the going gets tough, Straus and Kilpatrick maneuver their tanks as if they were playing checkers and win the battle, saving the platoon.

- Synopsis
- US marines are on the march to the Changjin Reservoir when they are attacked by entrenched enemy soldiers. Due to some precise planning, the sergeant finds a way to sneak upon the enemy and defeat them. However, the Marines are then ordered to retreat, something grunt Salisbury doesn't understand from his position on the battlefield. He soon learns that their Marine unit was surrounded by 100,000 Chinese soldiers, facing certain annihilation.
