- Synopsis
- Hitta, heir to the throne of an ancient civilization, wants no part of its monarchy and escapes to the “modern world”. The Beagle Boys have Gyro create a money-scented perfume and sell it to Brigitta to muddle Scrooge’s mind. Scrooge falls hard for the scent and almost marries Brigitta before his nephews snap him out of it. Brigitta soothes her defeat with a vacation to the Bananias Archipelago, where she momentarily spies the runaway Hitta – and later falls into a cavern leading to the aforementioned lost civilization, where she is mistaken by the retiring queen for the missing Hitta.

Per the previous text article, "How 'Captured in Bananaland' Came To Be", Carl Barks suggested the idea of Brigitta seducing Scrooge with money-scented perfume to Romano Scarpa in 1975. Using it as the basis for a story, Scarpa expanded it into the greater plot of "Captured in Bananaland".
NOTES FROM THE TRANSLATOR:
Meta Moment: Donald reads a "Mickey Mouse" comic book. In the original Italian it was an issue of "Topolino", the Italian Mickey Mouse comic book. Page 10, panel 1.
Page 24, panel 2: Scrooge, under the influence of the money-scented perfume, uncharacteristically whisks Brigitta off in a taxicab. His nephews react:
HUEY: "Stupefying!"
DONALD: "He hasn't PAID FOR A TAXI RIDE since 1953!"
This is a tribute reference to Carl Barks' inside-front-cover-gag of Four Color (Dell, 1942 series) #456 ([March] 1953) - considered to be the de-facto second issue of Uncle Scrooge (Dell, 1953 Series) - where Scrooge waits for the traffic light to change from red to green before getting into a taxi and having the meter start.
