The Joker series was cancelled with issue #9. This story was intended for the unpublished The Joker #10 and is published here for the first time. The story was written and illustrated around 1976, it was colored by Drew Moore for this volume.
The credits do not list an inker for this story. In 2011, writer Marty Pasko found black and white Xerox copies of the story pages that he had stored away and put them up for sale on eBay. In the description he mentioned that the original boards had been returned to penciller Irv Novick and inker Vince Colletta. He also mentioned that he had written the story with a plot assist from Paul Kupperberg. On the splash page of the story, it says special thanks to Paul Kupperberg, but does not specify Kupperberg's contribution.
This was to be the first part of a two or three part story according to Pasko, but only this first part was completed. The story ends on a cliffhanger, regarding Joker's father?
