The original publication began simultaneously in Italy in the magazine Linus (see reprint links) and in French in the magazine (À Suivre) from #31-32 (August-September 1980) to #37 (February 1981). This interupted content corresponds to the first 22.5 pages of the story in the book.
The first story page in the book is a black-and-white reproduction of watercolor painted comic panels that were published in color in Linus. The following 21.5 pages have been edited after the original publication, the lower half of the 13th story page was not part of the original publication in (À Suivre).
The original publication was resumed and completed in Italy in the magazine Corto Maltese (see reprint links).
