London agrees to help Rasputin escape by putting him in touch with his friend, Corto Maltese, who is about to depart Manchuria for Africa. The story we know as The Early Years was to have been only the first part of a much longer adventure, [...]

Indexer Notes

Introductory short essay explaining the origin of the strips reprinted in the following section. The Early Years was originally serialized in Le Matin de Paris, and was originally intended to have run for much longer than it did, but Pratt ended it where he did due to disagreements with the newspaper's management. However, thirteen strips of a sequel were found in 2006 and one additional strip was found later.
