Miguel briefly splits into four different Supermiguels, presented as analogous to DC's Reign of the Supermen crossover storyline in 1993. The split-in-two Supermiguel and Thunder Montez is a nod to the Superman Red, Superman Blue storyline in 1998. The name and design of Thunder Montez are references to Captain Marvel/Shazam, originally called Captain Thunder in the ashcan publications Flash Comics and Thrill Comics.
