After graduating from college, Jay turns down a job in private industry and joins the Army, over the objections of his sweetheart Pat. While Jay is away, Pat dates Ken, a college friend who got the job Jay turned down. Pat’s brother Dave, also in the Army, disapproves of this relationship. Jay asks Pat to marry him and Ken says she has to choose between them. When Dave is wounded in action, Pat realises she loves Jay and agrees to a wedding before he’s shipped overseas.

Margo is a dietician in a women’s penitentiary and looks down on the inmates. Convict June is assigned as her assistant. On visiting day, June introduces her loyal boyfriend Al to Margo. Margo thinks Al is too good for June and decides to steal him for herself. Margo frames June for poisoning the prison matrons and June gets 3 years added to her sentence. After Margo meets June’s distraught mother, she confesses her guilt and is fired. June is released and reunited with Al.
Mary’s boyfriend Joe, assistant district attorney, warns her that her younger brother Jerry keeps bad company. Jerry won’t listen and is arrested for grand larceny. Joe recommends a light sentence but Mary breaks up with him anyway. Shyster lawyer Appleton gets Jerry released and he returns to his delinquent ways and is soon arrested again. Joe blames Mary but agrees to supervise Jerry personally. Jerry mends his ways and gets Joe and Mary back together as well.
