- A female reporter gets the scoop that will win her a job at the Daily Globe over her male rival: the secret story of Wonder Woman and the Amazons.
- Reprints
The origin of Wonder Woman and the Amazons is retold, although the creation of the Amazons from clay, as detailed in Wonder Woman (DC, 1942 series) #1, is omitted.
Mary watches the origin on the Space-and-Time Transformer Screen, which seems to have taken the place of the Magic Sphere. The Space-and-Time Transformer is primarily used to send Wonder Woman anywhere on the planet, at any time, past or future.
Wonder Woman was herself hired as the Romance Editor at the Daily Globe in Sensation Comics (DC, 1942 series) #97.

- Synopsis
- As Mary Ellen observes the early days of the Amazons and Wonder Woman's origin, her male rival tracks her to Paradise Island, where his reckless flying threatens the Amazons.
- Reprints
For the first time, Wonder Woman's origin is not explicitly tied to World War II. When Steve Trevor crashes on Paradise Island, he mentions "invaders" trying to enslave the world, and contemporary stories show Military Intelligence investigating Soviet-like countries.
Hippolyte does not forbid Diana from participating in the contest, as she has in the past; instead, she doubts her daughter will fare that well against her sisters. Diana participates anyway, disguised in a mask.
The robot plane is called a gift of Aphrodite, and is said to be controlled by the sound of Wonder Woman's voice, as opposed to telepathically controlled. Later stories are inconsistent on which is correct.
