Unemployed shopgirl Martha inherits a castle in England. She is courted by neighbour Michael, then falls in love with filmmaker Vincent. Knocked out in an auto accident, Martha imagines she is back in 1673 as her own ancestor, where she meets earlier versions of Michael and Vincent. 1673 Vincent is a fortune-hunter who is defeated by Michael in a duel. When Martha awakes, she tells Vincent she has no money and he dumps her. She notices an old painting has changed to show her ancestor with Michael, next to a fallen Vincent. Martha will marry Michael.
Evie meets and is kissed by stranger Bob one night by the lake at a resort. She sees him the next day: she’s a waitress and he’s a guest. Evie says she’s not interested in a fling with a playboy. That night, Bob returns and kisses her again. Some mutual friends show up and Bob is exposed as a lawyer and “woman hater,” while Evie is apparently wealthy, even though she’s taken a job. Bob and Evie see each other in a new light now.

Abby dreams of Tod, who tells her she needs to move on with her life. Abby and Cindy are reunited with Hal.
