Veronica is sad that she's never received a love letter that her grandchildren could someday find. She and Betty convince Archie to start leaving town on weekends so that he could write to them.
Veronica is upset that her father doesn't treat her more like an adult. Mr. Lodge tells her she find out what it's like to have a dependent someday but she says that Archie is already dependent on her.
Betty has an intense dream about Archie. When Archie and Betty get caught in a wind storm the next day and arrive at the house with their hair and clothes all disheveled Betty's mother wishes their relationship had been kept on a dream basis.
Betty and Veronica think it's awful that there's going to be a female mud wrestler event in town. Veronica is shocked to see that her father's company is holding the event. He says it's not big deal but changes his mind when Veronica tells him that she's going to compete.
