Keywords
alley; DC Comics Hanna-Barbera character crossover; notable coloring modification; searchlight

Indexer Notes

Very Nice Touch: A single strand of hair from Shaggy's head stands up on edge in contrast to the completely dark background behind him.

Different coloring than the original printing. Most notably with Scooby-Doo and Shaggy bathed in blue light.

First Line of Dialogue or Text
Shaggy, that's a museum exhibit, not a toy!
Genre
humor; anthropomorphic-funny animals; detective-mystery; superhero
Characters
Batman [Bruce Wayne]; Robin [Dick Grayson]; Alfred Pennyworth; Scooby-Doo; Shaggy; Fred; Daphne; Velma; Dr. Carter Nichols; Batgirl [Barbara Gordon] (one panel cameo); Ace the Bat-Hound (one panel cameo)
Synopsis
The original purple gloves that were part of Batman’s first costume (high pointed cowl ears, narrow eye slits, and no chest emblem oval) have been replaced with fakes manufactured in 2021. Batman asks the Mystery Inc. gang to assist him in solving this odd and unexplainable event. Fred and Daphne work with Batman and Robin in the present day of 2021, while Shaggy, Velma, and Scooby are regressed to the past (and Batman’s earliest days) by the classic DC Comics character Dr. Carter Nichols.

Indexer Notes

It is unclear as to which version of Robin this is. Dick Grayson is assumed, as he appears "older" than Tim Drake, and that it was his Robin that has met Scooby and the gang in the past - and is familiar with them in this story.

First Line of Dialogue or Text
You know, when the carnival called us to investigate a haunted fun house, I didn't know what we'd find inside - - but it sure wasn't The Joker and his gang of evil clowns!
Genre
humor; anthropomorphic-funny animals; detective-mystery; superhero
Characters
Batman [Bruce Wayne]; Robin [Dick Grayson]; Scooby-Doo; Shaggy; Fred; Daphne; Velma; The Joker; Gaggy; Weepy; Yakky; Punchy; swarms of bats; The Spirit of the Cavern (ghost)
Synopsis
To reward their assistance with capturing The Joker, Batman offers the Mystery Inc. gang (traveling blindfolded, of course) a tour of the Batcave's trophy room, just in time to encounter The Spirit of the Cavern - a ghost that dares to haunt the Batcave.

Good Bit: Page 12, panel 2: Fred's fashion sense shows as he searches the Batcave for the ghost: "No one's hiding back here either, but these specialized Batman uniforms are amazing! There's one for deep-sea diving, one for outer space... they could use an ASCOT, though!
