Synopsis
Granny threatens to cast lazy Sylvester out because he hasn’t caught any mice. Tweety, observing “Be Kind to Cats Week”, decides to help the Puddy Tat keep his home by providing him with some mice to catch. When hapless Sylvester can’t get the job done, Tweety recruits more cats to help him – followed by a dog to rout the cats, and more.

Sylvester pursues Tweety up and away, using a bunch of balloons. In mid-air, Tweety produces a sharp pin from wherever cartoon characters keep their hidden objects, and pops the balloons keeping Sylvester aloft.

Indexer Notes

For this reprint, an additional panel was added to the end of the gag to cover the space originally occupied by the “Dell Comics Pledge to Parents”. It consists of a Tony Strobl penciled drawing of Tweety sourced from Panel Three of the inside front cover gag – also reprinted from Tweety and Sylvester (Dell, 1954 series # 10 (September-November 1955). In context, the original panel had Tweety lying on the ground but, added sans any background, he appears to be lying in mid-air. A dialogue balloon is added for the bird to say “Poor Puddy Tat…”, giving a “first line” to what was a pantomime gag page. Color on back cover.
