Jughead agrees to watch Veronica's dog for the afternoon. Jughead tries to lock up the dog so he can eat the dog's steak, but the dog keeps outsmarting Jughead until finally the dog shares its steak with Jughead.
Jughead can't rest in his hammock because his mother has chores for him, so Jughead hangs his hammock so high between the trees that she can't see him.
Archie and Reggie tease Jughead for being so lazy, so Jughead decides to conform to their ways. He steals their dates with Veronica and Betty to teach them a lesson, then goes back to his old ways.
Jughead is determined to be useful on the baseball team, but he messes up at everything Coach asks him to do. Jughead finds a spare jersey to use and Coach warns him about every one who has worn that jersey. He says he will take him to the cemetery to read the tombstones. Jughead is so scared about it that he runs out through the wall. Coach and Mr. Weatherbee share a laugh and Mr. Weatherbee admits that when his coach tried that on a non-athletic student, that student was Mr. Weatherbee himself.
Li'l Jinx is excited about the picnic. Her mother and father make sure to check off everything on the list and they get going, satisfied they haven't forgotten anything, but Li'l Jinx is still at the house.
Archie tries to get Jughead to go on a triple-date with Reggie and him. Reggie says it would be wrong to infringe on Jughead's right to choose and sends Jughead away. Jughead is suspicious that Reggie sent him away and decides that Reggie can't tell him what to do, so he shows up ready for the date, not realizing he was outfoxed by Reggie.
