The Cave Kids keep Rocky Ranger so busy rescuing them that he doesn't have time to eat or sleep. They decide that he needs his rest and go to Fun Valley, where they will always be safe. Unfortunately, Short Stuff thinks he is under attack by a giant so he calls Rocky out of his bathtub to rescue them. Rocky shows him that it wasn't a giant attacking him and tells them that they are always safe in Fun Valley. He takes away their clubs and builds himself a clubhouse where he can nap while they play safely.
The Cave Kids go on a field trip looking for rare rocks. While they are looking a bird picks up a rare rock and carries it to his nest. Short Stuff tries to follow him but he falls down the hill. The bird catches him and carries him to his nest, where he has an egg and many rare rocks that he has collected. Short Stuff knows that a bird leaves its nest once the baby is hatched so he helps the egg hatch and the bird and the baby fly away. Short Stuff can now take all of the rare rocks but his day is ruined when the car is too heavy for the driver and he and his friends have to push it home.
Sheepy Shale is playing hide and seek but he has trouble hiding because he can't see past his hair. First he thinks he is hiding in a cave but it is really a Yawnoccerus and he is trapped until a hunter helps him out. Then he tries to hide in an old tree but is chased out by the wildcat inside. Finally, the hunter helps him hide in the open when it turns out that he looks like a flower with his hair covering up his face.
Buddy Boulder is hungry but he has run out of money and can't afford to buy any more food. He thinks he'll starve if he doesn't get to eat snacks between his meals so he gets a job delivering the paper. While delivering the paper he helps catch a burglar and uses the reward money to buy four copies of the paper. He uses these to sit at gobble level with the super-sky-high sundae he can now afford.
The Cave Kids are bored and decide to start a club. They find a deserted lot and build their clubhouse there, unfortunately, that is where J.L. Gotrocks is building a Stonescraper. He kicks them out of their clubhouse but when he goes there and overhears them talking it reminds him of his childhood. He says they can keep the clubhouse if they make him president of the club.
