She claims that she has a secret boyfriend named "Parnell" who loves to eat her sandwiches. Little Archie follows her after school and discovers that Parnell is a stray cat that Sue is feeding. Little Archie has to decide whether to use the money he's saved up to buy new Silver Flash roller skates, or use it to help Sue and Parnell.

Indexer Notes

This was the first new Little Archie story since 1966 to be written and drawn by series creator Bob Bolling. Starting with this issue he returned to the series on a recurring basis, contributing a few longer stories each year for the next few years. Bolling told Gary Brown in Comic Book Artist magazine that he didn't know why the Archie editors suddenly asked him to return to his creation after removing him from the series all those years before.

As in his '50s and '60s Little Archie stories, Bolling signs his name in a small box in the splash panel. Until the company started giving credits the following year, he was one of the few Archie artists permitted to sign his work.

This story re-introduces Sue Stringly, who had previously appeared in "Sled With a Mission" in Little Archie # 30. Here she is given a new design, with buck teeth. She would appear in many of Bolling's stories from this point on.

This is also Bolling's first mention of Blue-Tooth Baker, the mysterious unseen boy whose unusual tastes are frequently referred to by the other kids.

Ambrose, who had been absent from the comics since the '60s, makes a cameo appearance among a group of kids playing field hockey.
