- Good morning, mrs. Beetle - have you any honey for us this morning?
- Genre
- anthropomorphic-funny animals
- Characters
- Billy Bee; Bonny Bee; Mrs. Beetle; Willie Wasp; Nurse Betsy; the bee queen
- Synopsis
- Billy and Bonny befriend Willie Wasp, and even though they are repeatedly warned, they hold on to the friendship. Only when Willie finally gorges himself in honey from the vats, are they convinced that he's bad.
The continued prejudice against wasps from the older bees, and the fact that Willie finally turns out to be as bad as predicted, can be read as a parable about racial prejudice - in this case: stay away from colored people; they bring only trouble.
