Roy Thomas speculates on page one of the text article, "Of Bears and Beast-Men" in Conan Classic (Marvel, 1994 series) #2 (July 1994) that Herb Trimpe possibly altered Conan's torso on the cover of Conan the Barbarian #2 "at the direction of Stan [Lee] or [Martin] Goodman".
