Synopsis
At senior prom, when Dot's date Jed tries to kiss her, she runs away. To discourage male attention, Dot deliberately hides her beauty. Jed tries to apologize but she rejects him and he says “I think you’re NUTS!” At college, Dot confides in Kay, who says “something is basically wrong with you!” After graduation, Dot meets Jed again; he kisses her but she slaps him, and he asks Kay for a date instead. Psychiatrist Dr. Lorenz hypnotizes Dot; she remembers being molested by her drunken father. Dot is instantly cured and she reconciles with Jed, whom she’s always loved.

Synopsis
“Hillbilly” Lisa and her younger brother Jackie move to the city after their father’s death. Lisa gets a factory job and dates foreman Cy. To improve herself, she attends night school taught by Dennis. When Lisa learns Cy is a two-timer and was using her, she and Jackie return to the hills. Dennis follows and says he loves Lisa. His fiancée Mildred agrees to set him free, and Dennis can now marry Lisa.

Synopsis
Gail, Cal and Blackie grow up together in the slums of New York. Cal is her “steady” but Blackie can show Gail a good time because he’s always got money. Blackie is sent to prison for two years on Cal’s testimony. Cal works and goes to college, and when Blackie is released, Gail starts dating him again and decides to elope with him. Cal exposes Blackie as a car thief, and they fight. Gail shoots and wounds Blackie to save Cal’s life, realizing Cal is the man she loves.

On page 8, panel 2, Cal punches Blackie but the colorist gives Blackie blonde hair (like Cal) instead of black, making it confusing for the reader about who's hitting who.
