Hometown boy Buck Leggett makes it big writing TV scripts and moves to the big city. But city life changes him and his work starts to suffer. Sally goes to the city to remind him of his roots.
As Clint's fiance, Anne attempts to please him by trying activities like car racing, skin diving, and flying. When she tries ski jumping, she falls and hurts her ankle. A doctor sees the accident and takes her to the infirmary. Anne uses the injury as an excuse to avoid the outdoor activities of her fiance and soon a relationship starts to develop between Anne and her doctor.
Tad has an opportunity to go to M.I.T. or play baseball. Doris wants him to go to M.I.T., but he chooses baseball instead. During Doris's junior year in college, Tad becomes a star pitcher. But when Doris cuts a class to see him while his team is playing near her college, she discovers he is taking extension courses to get his college degree.
