Synopsis
Kathy’s mother ran off with another man when Kathy was a baby. As Kathy grows up, her attitude is adversely affected by the scandal and she rebuffs all romantic attentions directed her way. Fellow office worker Denis is persistent but when she defensively rejects him, he says “there’s a devil inside of you” that makes her anti-social and bitter. She decides to leave town but Denis catches up with her and she admits she loves him as well.

Synopsis
Stephen, a new arrival in town, asks flashy Roxy for a date. He is embarrassed by her crude ways and uncouth friends, but is strangely captivated by her. This causes him to ignore Beth, the daughter of his landlady, who is a decent girl. Roxy takes money from Stephen under false pretenses and he realises he’s been foolish. He and Beth date, then fall in love. Roxy tries to win him back, but Stephen won’t fall for her tricks again.

Synopsis
Orphan Millie is a student nurse. She helps treat architect Jeff when his eyes are injured and develops a crush on him, then discovers he’s engaged to Diane. When Diane learns Jeff may be permanently blind, she dumps him for another man, but Millie keeps this news from Jeff. At Millie's urging, Jeff undergoes a risky operation to restore his sight and Diane comes back. However, Jeff realises he loves Millie.
