Synopsis
16-year-old Ruth marries Jim just before he reports for military service. He’s killed in action and she discovers she’s pregnant. Ruth places her baby temporarily in a children’s home, and gets a job in an aircraft factory. Ruth falls in love with her foreman Greg, but keeps her past a secret. Learning she has to claim her child soon or have it put up for adoption, Ruth decides to confide in Greg, but changes her mind when he makes disparaging remarks about a friend who married a divorcee with a child. Ruth writes a letter to Greg and moves away, but he finds her and they reconcile.

Synopsis
As a child, Joyce developed a habit of telling lies and continues this as an adult. She dates Van, a salesman for the firm where she works, and continues her practice of lying, to him and others. When her lies are exposed, Joyce swears to stop, and she and Van become engaged. However, she pretends her mother’s engagement ring is the one Van gave her, and their boss therefore thinks Van is “an untrustworthy liar” and “an irresponsible spendthrift.” Van breaks up with Joyce. She confesses the truth to the boss, gets a new job, and changes her lying ways. Van returns and they make up.
