Synopsis
Tonto recalls to Stone Bear how he asked Little Hand, a scholarly sort, to partner in the contest. They lose the first two parts because Little Hand is no good at sports, then win another because Little Hand's store of knowledge gives them an edge. Shoot-the-rapids is next. Little Hand's store of knowledge comes in handy, a tie. Tie-breaker, Little Hand's store of knowledge comes in handy again, they win. Tonto lectures the rest how being strong and fast isn't everything, because knowledge and skill count, too. Now Little Hand is the tribal Medicine Man, and Tonto sends his friend a greeting.

Paint grazes the sheep's pasture, the sheep dog braces him, is rebuked. Next morning Paint fails to befriend the dog, goes off, scents a wolf pack, lures the unfriendly dog to the scent, they fight off the wolves together, make friends.

Tonto is pressed into labor by bandits who stole Army rifles to sell to the Indians. He finds a way to warn the cavalry patrol, then blows up the stolen barrel of gunpowder. The cavalry officer acknowledges that two Indians, Tonto and the cavalry's Indian scout, were the ones who really saved the day.

Synopsis
Tonto saves Ralph from gunmen, he joins tribe because he can't get the law's justice from the horse rustlers. Tonto teaches him not to be a vigilante, and with the marshal's help he recovers his herd and they capture the rustlers. It took an Indian to teach him to do things by the law.
