"If you two are gonna keep helping me out... then you're gonna need to start doing things MY way." We also get a flashback as to the tragic events that shaped Space Ghost into a grimly dedicated protector.
Keywords
achieving mutual respect; asteroids; awkward adjustments; monster; origin flashback; outer space setting; Planter Vector; the Ghost Planet

Indexer Notes

As mentioned in the index to issue #1, Space Ghost, his manner and particularly his origins, is characterized as very "Batman-esque".

GOOD BITS:

During the long, silent ride to the Ghost Planet, Jace tries to break the uncomfortable and awkward silence by trying to address a stone-cold silent Space Ghost... first with:

"Ah... Mister GHOST?"

...Then slipping into a line right out of the original TV series: "This is Jace, calling Space Ghost...", to which Space Ghost remains scowling and silent.

Upon arriving at home base, Jace tries again with an impulsive action that he immediately regrets, finally resulting in a terse and annoyed response from Space Ghost:

SPACE GHOST: "Kid -- Tell me you're NOT tugging on my CAPE!"

Continues the 10-page preview begun in Dynamite Entertainment's Jonny Quest, Free Comic Book Day (2024). https://www.comics.org/issue/2627344/ This is not a reprint of that preview, but a continuation from where that preview left off.

The preview ends with: "To Be Continued in Jonny Quest #1 On Sale August 14th". The previously published Free Comic Book Day preview ended with: "To Be Continued... in Jonny Quest #1 Coming in July!", indicating that the release date for Jonny Quest #1 has been pushed-back about a month.

The footnote caption, referred to in the "first line caption" above reads as follows: "*See the Jonny Quest FCBD Special! -- Special Matt"
