Actor Mark loves movie director Vilma, but she is cold to him. He threatens to walk out on the film they’re making unless she marries him, and she reluctantly agrees. They finish the movie and it is a flop, but Vilma discovers she does love Mark. They think their careers are ruined, but Mark gets a starring role in another film. Although Vilma is offered a job as director, she decides to give up her career and become a full-time housewife.
Restaurant cashier Sheila dislikes her job and also wishes her boyfriend Johnny could afford to take her on expensive dates. Sheila meets playboy Randy and dumps Johnny. Randy never mentions marriage and takes Sheila to a remote cabin with hanky panky on his mind. She flees back to town and makes up with Johnny.

Mary falls for boxer Larry, although she dislikes the sport. Larry makes a deal with gangster Giacco to win the championship. However, his opponent doesn’t throw the fight as promised. Larry wins when Mary shows up at ringside to encourage him. He vows to quit boxing and marry Mary.
Anne works in a factory making artificial flowers. At the urging of garden-supply store employee Nelson, she submits an entry to a garden-design contest and wins. She also gets a job with a landscaping company. Anne rejects Nelson when he kisses her but later realises she does love him, but he has vanished. Anne and Nelson are reunited when she finds him driving a truck on one of her projects. She decides to quit her job and marry him.
