Synopsis
Madeleine meets Jim at the country club; he is a former college athlete who makes his living playing tennis with rich members. They fall in love but she refuses to marry him because he is conceited and has no ambition. Sportscaster Conte suggests Jim will never grow up until he’s defeated on the court and faces reality. Madeleine’s brother Willie beats Jim in a match and Jim vows to change his life and marry Madeleine.

Synopsis

When Charlie starts dating Ellen, Viv is jealous and tells their circle of friends that she dumped Charlie because he lied to her. Viv also tells Ellen that Charlie borrowed money from her and gambled it away, and that they were engaged. Ellen breaks up with Charlie; he tells Viv that he’s leaving town immediately after graduation and she’ll never see him again.

Synopsis
On a mountain vacation, secretary Helen encounters former violin prodigy Julian. After suffering a war injury, Julian fears he can never play in public again. He and Helen fall in love and he promises to try to revive his concert career. Music critic Chester Black says Julian needs confidence in himself, and he should marry Helen to prove this. After a time, Julian is once again a great concert violinist.

Synopsis
Stenographer Gloria tells her story to her boss, publisher DeWitt. She and editor Jack fell in love. Gloria betrayed fellow worker Nancy in order to get a promotion from DeWitt. As a supervisor, she drove her staff mercilessly and this carried over into her daily life. She was in line for promotion to office manager, but Jack learned what she did to Nancy (a war widow with two children) and broke up with her. Mr. DeWitt fires Gloria and says her confession was all for nothing: Jack left for the West Coast that morning.

Synopsis
Struggling artist Steve reluctantly allows his girlfriend Carol to become his agent. However, he learns she has been passing off his work as her own to impress interior decorator Murdock. She tells Steve that she intends to make the wealthy Murdock fall in love with her. Meanwhile, Steve is approached by a mysterious woman named Anne, who goes out with him but refuses to reveal anything about herself. As it turns out, Anne is actually Murdock's client Helen, and he had been romancing her until he met Carol. Both Carol and Murdock’s schemes are exposed. Helen and Steve are in love.
