Synopsis
In 1945, The Losers land on Dinosaur Island, and all but Johnny Cloud meet their fates before Col. Rick Flagg arrives to try to save them. But Cloud refuses to leave with Flagg and faces the same destiny as his brothers-in-arms. Later, in 1948, at Edwards Air Force Base, young Hal Jordan meets his hero, and his late father's friend and fellow pilot, Chuck Yeager.

Synopsis
In Gotham City in 1952, Hourman is pursued and arrested as one of the few remaining active masked vigilantes. An Iris West authored article tells how as part of the government's efforts to root out subversive influences in America, the Justice Society of America was forced to retire, Wonder Woman and Superman took loyalty oaths, and Batman continued to work outside the law. The government also authorized a suicide squad called Task Force X, led by Rick Flag, to handle the greatest threats to the safety and security of the nation.

Synopsis
As news of the offical end of the Korean conflict begins to spread, Ace Morgan and Hal Jordan engage in one last air battle. Ace and Hal are knocked out of the sky and Jordan lands on a Korean soldier, who also has not gotten the word that combat is over. Reporters Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen join the helicopter mission that saves Hal.

Synopsis
J'onn J'onzz arrives on Earth, while Superman investigates what Wonder Woman has been up to in Indo-China. J'onn J'onzz studies Earth culture through television and takes on the role of police detective John Jones in Gotham City in 1955. Time passes, and in Central City police scientist Barry Allen is struck by lightning, the Russians launch Sputnik, and Eisenhower ramps up the space race. In Gotham City in 1957, John Jones and Slam Bradley's attempt to break up a cult dedicated to "The Centre" involves an encounter with Batman and the confiscation of a large, sealed book.

Synopsis
In 1957, Red Ryan can't shake the crash landing he and three other men survived and later meets with the three to discuss their shared luck. Meanwhile, in New York City, Task Force X takes on a pterodactyl and loses one of their own, while in Tennessee, an African-American man who survives a lynching forges a new identity. Later, in the Pacific, Task Force X and the Challengers of the Unknown make a trip to Dinosaur Island. At the same time, Hal Jordan gets involved with a Task Force X project in California and learns about that crew. Back in Tennessee, John Henry makes his first appearance.

Synopsis
John Jones enjoys a night at the movies and sees the Challengers of the Unknown in a newsreel and an alien invasion flick. He returns home to find a visitor...Batman. In Washington, Wonder Woman is retired by order of the president, while in California, Hal Jordan learns more about the goals of Ferris Aircraft and Task Force X. After his encounter with Batman, Jones opens the volume the police confiscated from the cultists and discovers the secret of Dinosaur Island.
