Non-advertised, CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS mini-series tie-in, single-panel-sequence-cameo showing the full figure Monitor and Harbinger. This is NOT a true pre-Crisis appearance. The confusion is understandable. In the panel The Monitor states, "Three months from now shall begin the Crisis on Infinite Earths!" However, this issue is cover-dated October 1985, with the CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS mini-series cover-dated April 1985; this issue was on the stands at the same time and along side the Crisis mini-series. WHY? At the time DC COMICS was publishing two separate Teen Titans books, both with new stories. One book was distributed direct to comic book stores only, with nicer/heavier Baxter paper-stock, and starting the numbering back at issue #1, while the second title continued the numbering from regular THE NEW TEEN TITANS but as TALES OF THE TEEN TITANS, printed on traditional lesser quality newsprint comic-book-paper, and was distributed both direct to comic book stores AND through old fashion newsstand outlets; convenience store, grocery stores, etc. WHY? DC's plans were to simple. They felt that they had two audiences; those with access to comic book stores, and those that bought via traditional venues. After publishing 12 issues of new stories in TALES OF THE TEEN TITANS, that title would then begin to reprint the then new stories having been published the previous year in the comic-book-shop only Baxter-paper NEW TEEN TITANS book, all in continuity. So, it makes sense that this TALES OF THE TEEN TITANS book would reference the Crisis as a future event, as those readers would not be reading about Crisis until the title started to reprint stories from the baxter-paper THE NEW TEEN TITANS. Of course, all readers WERE reading Crisis at the same time but, there you have it.
