Synopsis
Cary is sacked from her job as companion for Mrs. Danvers when the woman's boyfriend is caught trying to kiss Cary. Turned out with no money on a rainy night in the south of France, Cary trips and is almost hit by a car. The driver takes her in and offers her a job as companion to his crippled ward, Suzy. Eventually, Adrian asks Cary to marry him. But while Adrian is away in England on business, his stepmother plots to poison Cary.
