Namora wins a swimming contest but the criminal known as “Spectacles" steals her silver trophy. While trying to get it back, Namora and Namor learn that the famous silversmith Enrico Laredo is missing. A clue in the Daily Bugle leads them to Rolland Galleries where they find Spectacles selling some rare coins to a shady collector. Spectacles escapes but the coins he leaves behind turn out to be exceptional counterfeits — except that each one contains Spectacles' address, where Namor and Namora apprehend the criminals and free Laredo.
Human Torch; Toro; Chloe; Gus; Colonel Jackson; The Reptile (villain; introduction); Webster (introduction)
The Torch & Toro reminisce about a case some time ago... On a rich estate in the Louisiana Bayou, Webster warns away Gus for "molesting" his fiancee Chloe. But on their wedding day, a creature called The Reptile begins a reign of terror and murder, warning all to abandon the estate. Answering Chloe's telegram, The Torch and Toro investigate, and find that not is all as obvious as it seems. At one point, trapped in quicksand, Toro asks "What are we gonna do?" and The Torch replies "It's a cinch we can't write to our congressman!"
