Being mistaken as his Grandfather the Phantom is required to repeat his feats of strength to prove his identity. 1st to capture a Wild Bull Elephant. 2nd Move a great rock 50 paces. 3rd Kill a tiger with no weapons. 4th Avoid capture for a full day. 5th Defeat the champion of the jungle in a fight to the death. He proves he's the Phantom by defeating the champion but refusing to kill him - showing Mercy.
