Originally credited to Pfeufer. Steinberg is credited on Hopalong by Jerry Bails' Who's Who. His work resembles Pfeufer's, but he has broader gun holsters with a rounded flap across. Pfeufer's holsters are very narrow and tapering almost to a point, as can be found in his Tom Mix stories. Steinberg had the covers for Hopalong Cassidy #4, #6, #7, #9, #10 and #12. So by comparing these covers and two stories in Hopalong Cassidy #16, with this story, it most probably is his work.
