Synopsis
Dan-El and Tavane rescue three women from a Leopard Man attack. The three women, who are really priestesses of "The Tree of Mystery", ask to drink the cup of peace with them, but they betray them by using a pill to remove their memories. Dan-El and Tavane are then taken to the Tree to take care of it and to eventually be sacrificed to it. Natongo is able to find them because his little doctoress Sihamba knows of the Tree and can lead him and his men to the general area. Along the way they save Hubo, a little boy who had been kidnapped and left as a sacrifice to the the tree. He escaped and so was able to lead them directly to the tree. They manage to kill the guardian of the tree, but Mafuta dies in the battle. The priestesses hear the death cries of the guardian and catch up to everyone at the tree. Dan-El, Natongo and the rest get away when Sihamba threatens to burn the tree down which convinces the priestesses to lay down their spears and allow them to leave.
