Synopsis
A flashback shows how Brainiac stole Kandor from Krypton. At a staff meeting at the Daily Planet, Perry White welcomes Steve Lombard as new sports editor, and welcomes back Catherine Grant. A Brainiac probe enters Earth's atmosphere, but Superman intercepts. It analyzes him, sends the information, and then shuts down. Brainiac's headship receives the information.

Synopsis
Superman takes the Brainiac probe to the fortress, and analyzes it with Supergirl. She tells him that he's never met the real Brainiac and is so spooked she destroys the probe with heat vision. Superman then eats a meal with his foster parents, and tells them he is going to track down Brainiac. He travels to the planet Larroo, stops the probes from attacking the citizens there, but the city there is surrounded by a bottle, and taken into Brainiac's ship. It fires a weapon into the sun of Larroo, and explodes, destroying the planet. Superman, unconscious, is taken into Brainiac's ship.

Synopsis
Supergirl visits the Daily Planet, looking for Clark, making an enemy of Cat Grant. Superman is still unconscious on Brainiac's ship, being probed. After awakening and destroying the Brainiac probes, he explores the ship, fighting Kono, finding various people (including Ultra) in suspended animation, finding a room of bottled cities, and hearing Kryptonese. He tracks the latter to a city in a bottle: Kandor. The real Brainiac awakens, and they confront each other. Brainiac has traced Superman back to Earth, which he now plans to gather knowledge from. His ship arrives over Metropolis.

Synopsis
Supergirl and Lois confront Brainiac's probes in Metropolis. Superman and Brainiac continue their confrontation. Superman gains the upper hand and goes to get the Kandor bottle, which starts communicating with him. Supergirl's parents tell how they and Argo City survived the initial destruction of Krypton and how they were forced to send Kara away to Earth in the moments before destruction. Brainiac recovers, severs the communications link and recaptures Superman. Supergirl is also captured. A bottle starts forming around Metropolis, and the ship then fires a weapon into the Earth's sun.
