- Synopsis
- When Henry Dashwood dies, his estate of Norwood Park falls into the control of his eldest son John, or, perhaps more correctly, of John's wife Fanny, which leaves his widow and three younger daughters at Fanny's mercy. Attempts to maintain a feeling of friendliness prove fruitless, particularly when Fanny's brother Edward takes an interest in Elinor, the eldest Dashwood daughter, and the sisters and their mother are compelled to move to a much smaller house owned by a relative of their mother's.
