Synopsis
A hostage situation in Ivy Town, that is an apparent diversion for a break-in in Ray's lab, causes Ray to recall his childhood, his brother Danny, his uncle David, and his use of a meteor containing dwarf star matter to shrink himself and start his career as the Atom. But when he searches through the wrecked lab, Ray finds a clue that suggests the culprit and leads to a shocking discovery.

Story continues in Adventure Comics (DC, 2009 series) #516. Ray's father formerly had the name David, but that name is given to his brother, Ray's uncle, in this story. He is identified as Jack Douglas Palmer in Adventure Comics (DC, 2009 series) #516.
