- Synopsis
- Mirka, 11 years old, is a smart, imaginative girl in an Orthodox Jewish community who one day meets an actual witch and her talking pig. The pig vows revenge on Mirka for having stolen a grape from his garden, but she later saves him from the bullies who torment her brother, Zindel. As a reward, the witch tells Mirka, who fancies becoming a dragonslayer much moreso than she does becoming a wife, where to find a proper sword right in their hometown of Hereville, but she'll need her stepmother Fruma's advice on fighting trolls.

The back cover has a blurb about the book; quotes from Scott McCloud, Rainia Telgemeier, and Dr. Stephanie Wellen Levine; brief bio of the author; colophon; and barcode with price. The illustration continues design elements from the front cover, broken up by the spine text, but due to the binding is impossible to scan as a wraparound.
