Synopsis
Al and Sam murder Rendell Locke. Tyler stuns Sam, and Sam ends up in Juvenile Detention. After the funeral, the Locke family moves to Lovecraft, Massachusetts -- into the family mansion, Keyhouse. While exploring the house, Bode finds a key. He uses the key to unlock a door. When he passes the threshold, his spirit leaves his body.

Synopsis
Bode discovers a door that separates his spirit from his body. He can travel around the house in spirit form and see his family. Bode also discovers a female entity in the old well house. The entity explains that Keyhouse contains many doors with magical properties like the spirit door, such as a gender changing door. She also describes the Anywhere Key that gives the bearer the ability to open any door and transport to any location. The entity asks Bode for a mirror and scissors, which he provides.

Synopsis
Kinsey struggles with keeping things in perspective at school -- she keeps having flashbacks to the day that Sam and Al killed her father. Sam uses the scissors and mirror transported by the entity to escape from prison. The police post a protective guard outside Keyhouse. Kinsey decides that she can't keep all her troubles bottled up and becomes friends with Jackie, a girl she met at high school track practice.

Synopsis
Sam makes his way across the country. He tells his story to a truck driver. Sam's father beat him regularly, his mother ignored his accomplishments, and the school jocks tormented him. Sam also recalls that Duncan Locke tried very hard to help Sam with college applications, and he remembers Tyler being so mad at his father that Tyler says offhandedly that if Sam ever kills his own dad that he should kill Tyler's dad too. In Lovecraft, Tyler struggles with having to maintain a macho outer image for Bode and his true feelings of overwhelming grief. Bode tries to answers a knock-knock joke.

Synopsis
Sam arrives in Lovecraft. He locks Nina and Duncan in the wine cellar and threatens to kill Tyler and the other children if Nina doesn't give him the Anywhere key. The entity in the well tells Bode that Sam has taken his family hostage, and it promises to save the family if Bode brings her the key.

Synopsis
Bode discovers the Anywhere key in Kinsey's bracelet. He delivers the key to the entity, and the entity uses the key to leave the well house. After a scuffle in the basement, Kinsey shoots Sam. The entity returns to Lovecraft as a teenage boy named Zack.
