The Heap [Baron Eric von Emmelman] (origin recap in flashback); Baron von Emmelman (flashback); Captain August Bocke (villain, flashback, death)
Synopsis
During WW1, von Emmelmann, working from ancient Egyptian papers, succeeds in creating the Secret Essence of Life, but when von Emmelman is shot down during a dogfight and killed, Bocke sneaks into the dead flier's quarters and drinks the liquid. A few minutes later, he is arrested for jamming the guns of von Emmelman and is shot by a firing squad. However, because of the formula he drank, he is unharmed. Years pass the Heap and Bocke make their way to the Great Sphinx, looking for the famed Book of the Dead. Bocke flees the Sphinx when he sees the Heap and dies in a crocodile stream.
