Synopsis
Continually pestered by a strange bird as she waits for Avery, a frustrated Aliera finally dons her fencing mask for protection. When she does so she can suddenly see a whole world of supernatural beings within Grand Central Station; moreover, she sees them in color despite being color-blind. A spectacular lady hails her as Defender Xenda. Deciding that a film or video is being made Aliera plays along and challenges the menacing monster Gridox, defending herself with her strange jeweled practice foil.

Avery tackles Aliera, who to all appearances is waving her foil wildly in Grand Central Station. As they argue, various monsters try to seize her foil, but it only burns them. Synopsis
Avery so fixates on the headlight of an approaching train that Aliera has to save him. Rushing to the open lighted space of the station, he pleads with her to let him go. When she agrees, not yet understanding his meaning, he is revealed un-glamoured as a troll, sent by the Unseelie to steal her foil, the jewel of which keeps the worlds in balance. Once a creature of darkness, he has come to love the light, and Aliera tells him to flee to the streets above.
